Montessori
What is Montessori education, and how is it different?+
A child-led approach where children choose their own work from a carefully prepared environment and learn at their own pace, with educators observing and guiding rather than instructing. See our What is Montessori page.
What ages does Gatehouse accept?+
Rosewater welcomes children from 18 months to 6 years. Hope Valley accepts children from 2.5 to 6 years. Both follow the same Montessori curriculum.
How does a typical day look?+
An uninterrupted work cycle, hands-on activities, outdoor play, group experiences and a quiet rest period, with educators guiding each child individually.
Can parents visit and observe the classroom?+
Yes. Parents are welcome to observe the environment during a centre tour, which helps you see the Montessori approach in action before enrolment begins.
Programs and learning
What will my child learn?+
Five curriculum areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Culture. See our Curriculum page for activities, materials and skills in each area.
How is my child's progress assessed?+
Assessment is observational rather than graded. Educators track each child's development and share updates with families directly rather than through formal report cards.
Fees, enrolment and daily care
Is Gatehouse eligible for the Child Care Subsidy?+

What should my child bring each day?+
A change of clothes, a healthy lunch and morning/afternoon snacks, a water bottle and a hat for outdoor play. We'll confirm any extras during enrolment.
